Его мамо – жуткая снобка, сидит в Британии и не одобряет девушку сына, певицу. Певица – дочь ШонБина, ветерана Первой мировой, занимает активную гражданскую позицию. Ее брат – уклонист.
Брат официантки и ее отец служат в польской армии и находятся в Гданьске. Британская журналистка освещает события в Польше, но ее никто не слушает. Есть еще парижская линия, но она пока унылая. Немцы предъявляют претензии на Гданьск и вторгаются в Польшу, пока мировое сообщество выражает глубокую озабоченность. Но вскоре придет и их час.
Смотреть на это все очень тяжело. В считанные часы жизни людей летят к чертям, Варшава и Гданьск разбомблены. И мы знаем, что на очереди блиц-бомбардировки Лондона, Британия вступает в войну.
Герои интересны, за них переживаешь. Тем, кому недостаточно военной драмы, подкинули любовный треугольник. Шон Бин хорош в новом образе заботливого отца. Лесли Менвилл совершенна великолепна в образе мамаши-снобши.
