А когда сериал про царей и цариц, не только живших под боком, но имевших отношение к истории твоей же страны – это другое. В старших классах школы мы уже учили историю по Субтельному (для тех, кто не в курсе – это радикально отличалось от советских учебников). Потому русские цари и царицы с трудом воспринимаются отстраненно, а тем более с симпатией. Субъективное восприятие этого отрезка истории здорово мешает воспринимать сериал. Но я попытаюсь совершить невозможное и оценить его, как человек, который смотрит иностранный сериал про иностранных царей и оценивает его исключительно с точки зрения интересности истории и художественной ценности.
Канал HBO обещал, что сериал состредоточится на отношениях Екатерины и Потемкина и не обманул. Это действительно не история правления, не история достижений или завоеваний. А история любви и взаимоотношений. Военные действия показаны схематично и напоминают набор открыток: вот Потемкин протыкает штыком турка, а вот Потемкин развевает волосья на обломках какой-то крепости. Все остальное – почти камерная история в интерьерах дворцов и в красивых парках.
В сериале сближение Потемкина и Екатерины показано в их уже далеко не юные годы (хотя фактически это 1762 год, то есть сразу после переворота). Переписка, разговоры, нежные словечки, измены, охлаждение, сближение. Скупыми штрихами – исторические события и другие персонажи: вот Павел женится, вот Орлов бесится, вот немножко войны, вот немножко бунта Пугачева и кровищи, вот фрейлины в платтячках, вот графиня Брюс и клинически тупой Зубов.
Фактически это театр двух актеров: Хелен Миррен и Джейсона Кларка. И если в Миррен как-то сомневаться не приходилось, то Кларк, который обычно только бесит, здесь удивительно на своем месте и прекрасно вжился в образ.
Рецензии не читала принципиально, предполагая полыхание пуканов по поводу искажения истории, но глаз все же зацепился за слово “бедненько”. И точно: никакого пафоса, размаха и пыщ-пыщ. Картинка темная и даже мрачная, все как-то негламурно, Екатерина накрашена, как пошлая кокотка (сарказм), не Медичи, короче. И не Тюдоры.
