Денежки он получает от ее брата еще до свадьбы, ведь по английским законам все имущество жены принадлежит мужу. Жена очевидно в него влюблена, молода, хороша собой, любит секс и ходит весь день в ночнушке, чего приличные английские леди не делают. А тут еще слухи гнусные о том, что все тетки у них в роду больные на голову.

В общем, дуся Рочистар тут, как и в книге, предстает гнусным охотником за приданым, который, получив искомое, поворачивается к молодой жене жопой и принимается шпилить служанок. А тут еще он сам стал наследником, тетка совсем не нужна.

Ребекка Холл не так демонична, как тетка из фильма 1993 года, но вполне убедительна и трогательна. Рейф Сполл гнусный. Может, будь на его месте молодой Тимоти Далтон или Тоби Стивенс, на худой конец Фассбендер, он вызывал бы хоть какую-то симпатию. А так нет.
