Юная и восторженная кругломордая и розовощекая принцесса прибывает в дикую Россию, где на праздники дарят друг другу медведей, бьют бокалы после тостов, крепостное право и невежесто процветают, а царь – сущий варвар. И идиот, который считает, что он очень остроумен. Катенька отчаянно хочет изменить, но она ничего не знает о стране (Выборг, а где это?) и все ее попытки что-то изменить заканчиваются провалами. Выход один – убить Петра и стать императрицей.
Юмор своеобразный и нифига не тонкий, это стеб и гротеск. Если ЧЮ нет, лучше и не начинать. Здесь натурально дарят медведей, некоторые придворные -темнокожие, а Орлов вообще индус, Петр – сын Петра 1, памятник которому верхом на медведе же установлен во дворце, в коридоре выставлена мумия маменьки, придворных пытают, в качестве теста на беременность писают на пшеницу, а на переговоры со шведами плывут под “Вставай, страна огромная”.
Царя играет Николас Холт, и это сущая умора: он трахает все, что сопит, включая жену собственного друга, он самодур с идиотским ЧЮ, но по-своему добрый: заметив, что он не удовлетворяет жену, Петя дарит ей любовника.
Эль Фаннинг – отличная актриса (и не только) и доказала это еще раз, ведь посреди комедии она иногда включает драму: среди хиханек ловко втиснута тема скотского отношения к людям. Остальные актеры тоже жгут. И нет, смотреть не надоедает, просто быстро окончательно забываешь о том, что на экране исторические персонажи.
