Ветеран войны Уиллард возвращается домой насквозь травмированный. С виду он в принципе самый нормальный в своем городке, где испарения от поганых болот дают о себе знать. Женившись по любви, Уиллард ведет милую и мирную жизнь, но недолго. В принципе пересказывать сюжет нет смысла, скажу лишь, что тут куча персонажей, все их линии так или иначе пересекаются между собой: серийные убийцы, долбанутый проповедник, проповедник-мудак, коррумпированный полицейский, все они как-то слабо дружат со своими кукухами и малосимпатичны.
Персонажи удались, как один. Билла Скарсгарда некоторое время тяжело воспринимать не каким-то шизом, но потом он оказывается на своем месте и жжОт. Паттинсон, видимо, стремится достичь вершины гнусности, и у него все хорошо и убедительно выходит. Как и у бывшего Дурсли из “Гарри Поттера”. Миа Васиковски хороша в роли религиозной мыши. Райли Кио и Джейсон Кларк чертовски убедительны, как и Стэн. Том Холланд очень милый, как всегда. Удалась атмосфера американской глубинки, но главное тут – упоротый сюжет, заставляющий до последнего сидеть в напряжении.
