У Мелмотта есть дочь, на которую тут же кладет глаз сэр Феликс, мамина корзиночка, просравшая все семейные деньги. У корзиночки есть сестра, хорошая девушка, за которой увивается богатый кузен. Но ей больше по душе прелестный голубоглазый голожоп, строящий дорогу в Америке. У голожопа в жизни все сложно: у него интрижка с теткой, которая не собирается его отпускать. Кузен это все осуждает и бесконечно пиздит.
Голожопа играет хорошенький и не маньячный Киллиан Мерфи. Унылый Макфедя совсем не унылый в роли корзиночки Феликса, он тут прямо жжот. Боевую тетку голожопа играет Миранда Отто, и она в этой роли очень хороша. Дэвид Суше в роли Мелмотта шокирует отсутствием усятков. Но лучше всех Ширли Хендерсон в роли дочери Мелмотта: очень здорово сыгранный персонаж, который меняется с развитием событий.
Все мило, чуточку грустно, но совсем не так готично и трагично, как, скажем, у Диккенса или иногда у Томаса Харди. В общем, показано смотреть для хорошего настроения.
