По роману Ирен Немировски. По её замыслу роман должен был состоять из пяти частей, но в 1942м автор погибла в Аушвице. Рукопись романа была найдена дочерью в вещах матери и издана в 2004м году. Вот про автора в вики.
Начало немецкой оккупации Франции, немцы захватили Париж и входят в маленький городок, где живёт героиня вместе со своей жёсткой и суровой свекровью. Немецкие солдаты расквартированы в домах местных жителей, а гг и ее свекрови достался хорошо воспитанный лейтенант, бывший до войны композитором.
У гг быстро сносит башню (тем более, что выясняются интересные подробности из жизни мужа, а Маттиас Шонартс в этом фильме не похож на некоего президента), но последующие события все расставляют на места.
Фильм же получился хорошим, невзирая на Мишель Уильямс (она тут не противная и играет). Кристин Скотт-Томас , как всегда, богиня, ещё есть смешная Марго Робби и героический Сэм Райли.
