Где-то в Провансе после Первой мировой живут два селянина, дядя и племянник. Все, что осталось от славного рода Суберанов. Племянник простецкий, глуповатый человечек, но у него есть мечта – он хочет растить цветы. Для этого нужны земля и вода. Подходящее поле есть у соседа, но он не хочет его продавать. Субераны ненароком роняют его с дерева и имеют надежду купить участок у наследника, потому что знают секрет: на участке есть источник. Они его тихонько засыпают, надеясь сбить цену. Наследником в конце концов оказывается очень милый и очень восторженный Жан, сын местной жительницы Флоретты. Жан привез сюда семью и полон планов. Но для них нужна вода, которую зажали Субераны. Действие второго фильма происходит спустя 10 лет после событий первого.
Кино довольно медленное, полное красивых сцен и пейзажей, каждый фильм идет два часа. Наверное, особенно хорошо смотреть его в сезон говна: цветовая гамма теплая, желтоватая, а фильм полон солнечного света. Затягивает очень быстро, всего минут 10, и ты уже переживаешь за героев, ненавидя хитрых селян всей душой. Правда, ближе к финалу эмоции становятся более сложными, а сам финал заставляет сидеть с выпученными глазами, вертя так и сяк в голове размышления на тему “судьба или злая воля”.
В фильме чудесная музыка, которая вертится и вертится в голове. И гениальные актерские работы. Даниэль Отой просто превзошел сам себя в противности и гнусности, но как сыграно! Депардье чудесен в роли восторженного Жана, Ив Монтан, сцуко, гений, Эммануэль Беар красива до вытекания глаз и тоже прекрасно играет. В общем, отриньте свои предубеждения о старых фильмах и посмотрите, это настоящее удовольствие, хотя кино веселым не назовешь.
