Идейно упоротые люди часто в плане биографии бывают очень скучные: ну там поорать с броневичка и потом убиться об благое дело. Джон Браун – aбoлициониcт, с которого фактически все началось, тоже выглядит yнылым, идейным и очень несчастным. Но в сериале Птица доброго господа/The Good Lord Bird 2020 года из него сделали упоротого жгуна. Да и весь сериал по-хорошему упорот.
Мальчик Генри живет себе с папой в Канзасе, где недавно сделалось эпичное рубилово между сторонниками и противниками рабства. Джон Браун, глубоко религиозный человек, считает, что рабство – отстой и гыдота, противная воле Господа. Набрав отряд единомышленников, он начинает освобождать темнокожих, даже если это им не очень надо. Так в его отряд попадает Генри, отец которого погиб при таком освобождении. Браун сослепу принимает Генри за девочку, выдает ему платье и обзывает Лучком.
Даже не знаю, к какому жанру это отнести. Несмотря на трагичность событий, все подано бодро, задорно и даже где-то весело. Но на комедию не тянет. Лучок – персонаж придуманый, но все остальное – правда, так что не ебанина. Но зрелище безбашенное и упоротое, кровь-кишки, сопли-вопли, фиялкам не надо. Итан Хоук, оказывается, адский жгун, приятно удивлена. Сериял снят по его же сценарию (в соавторстве), а в актерском составе есть его дочь. Хоук номинируется на Золотой Глобус, кстати.
