В книге Мэри Поппинс – довольно противная особа: чопорная, самодовольная, язвительная, авторитарная. Хотя ее отношение к себе красивой очень импонирует. У Эмили Блант получилась совсем другая Мэри Поппинс: чуть строгая, улыбчивая, загадочная и дивно красивая.
Майкл и Джейн выросли. По какому-то нелепому капризу судьбы Майкл решил размножиться, хотя еще по книге было понятно, что он противный. Вырос же он в Бена Уишоу, что само по себе довольно страшно, да еще и долбогрыза. В свойственной ему долбогрызической манере он забывает заплатить взнос банку и оказывается на грани конфискации имущества. И тут на помощь приходит она, жінка з парасолькою.
У Майкла и Джейн полностью отшибло память и воображение, потому они считают, что все чудеса в детстве им почудились. Новые дети (аж три штуки, в меру противные) тоже поначалу не верят, но втягиваются уже после купания с мегауткой и прочими чудесами.
Чудеса эти, к слову, слизаны с книги с небольшими различиями.
Визуально все сделано безупречно прекрасно: виды Лондона, ветер, несущий листья по тротуару, наряды Мэри Поппинс, фарфоровый мирок блюда, танец фонарщиков. Но для детей в этом фильме слишком много поют, а для взрослых – слишком незамысловатый сюжет. Красиво, мило, асисяй, но скучновато.
Актеры, впрочем, явно получили удовольствие, особенно Мэрил Стрип и сама Эмили Блант.
