На пушечный выстрел не подошла бы к книге с таким названием и такой обложкой. Это вариации на тему Золушки. Аннотация тоже не внушала желания почитать: какие-то дурищи будут учиться в академии, чтоб выйти замуж за прынца, которого никто из них даже не видел. Но внезапно интересно с первых страниц. Дело совсем не в прынце, да он вообще мало кому интересен.
Робин Маккинли “Меч королевы”. Совершенно сказочное фентези, даже не очень девочковое и с довольно небанальным для жанра сюжетом. Вполне себе можно назвать героическим фентези, очень легко читается, чуть-чуть романтики не портит дело (ноно, никаких жезлов, героиня – приличная девушка).
“Страшный дар” Екатерина Коути из серии “Старая недобрая Англия”. Жила-была девочка по имени Агнесс, которая видела призраков, но, конечно, не распространялась на эту тему. Ее отец внезапно умер, и быть ей в работном доме, если бы он в виде призрака не успел рассказать ей об их единственном оставшемся в живых родственнике. Только вот досада: родственник этот священник, да к тому же строгий и унылый сверх меры. Но оказывается, у него есть на это важные причины. Правда, Агнесс о них не знает и сражается с ним не на жизнь, а на смерть. А тут еще таинственные незнакомцы мать с сыном, которых Агнесс повстречала на постоялом дворе. И таинственная леди, которую связывают с дядюшкой Агнесс таинственные отношения.
В общем, легкая, ненапрягащая, милая фентези про Викторианскую Англию. Героиня прелесть какая дурочка, написано с юмором
