На самом деле эта прелесть – единственное в мире ядовитое млекопитающее (если не считать утконоса, который вообще хз что такое). На локтях у этих няшек есть специальные железы, которые выделяют токсин. В моменты опасности лори лижет локти (да, он может) и делает кусь. Его слюна с токсином парализует и может убить жертву, в том числе человека, который может склеить ласты от анафилактического шока. Противоядия не существует. Самим лори на яд пофиг. Самки тщательно вылизывают ядовитыми слюнями младенцев на случай, если их обнаружат хищники.
Кроме того, у него один из самых длинных языков среди приматов – он нужен не только для того, чтобы лизать локти, но и пить нектар. Это первый, а есть ещё второй, более короткий. Также природа выдала лори несколько лишних позвонков. При этом лори – самые медленные животные на земле после ленивцев.
МПО толстых лори почти такого же размера, как клитор у их тёток, что сильно усложняет возможность отличить самца от самки. Беременность у лори длится аж полгода, а детёныши весят всего 14-50 грамм. А взрослый лори может весить 2 кг. Толстые лори на фотках выглядят по-разному, потому что их 6 видов.
