Каким-то образом мимо меня проскочил фильм 2002 года Юлий Цезарь/ Julius Caesar с целой толпой хороших актеров. Назвать его серьезным историческим фильмом не получится, хронометраж маловат, но сценаристы попытались сделать эссе на тему “знаете, каким он парнем был”, и получилось совсем неплохо. Для зрителя, который не отбивает дупля в этом историческом периоде. Я же с удовольствием посмотрела картинки.
Повествование начинается с проскрипций Суллы, под раздачу попадет тесть Цезаря, Цинна. Защищая его, Цезарь попадает в заключение, но получает возможность реабилитироваться, когда его отправляют в Вифинию. Повествование охватывает всю оставшуюся жизнь Цезаря, концентрируясь на некоторых моментах. Конечно же, охватить все интересное не позволяет хронометраж. Но, по крайней мере, удалось показать личность и мотивы заговорщиков. Цезарь показан человеком привлекательным, честным, принципиальным, но постепенно теряющим эти качества под влиянием жажды власти и ударов судьбы.
Цезаря сыграл Джереми Систо, который в этой роли просто дивно хорош. Помпей, которого играет Крис Нот, не похож на настоящего Помпея, но прекрасностью аж выжигает глаза. Кристофер Уокен бомбический в роли Катона, хоть и не противный, а Катон должен быть противным. Ричард Харрис сыграл в этом фильме свою последнюю роль – Суллы. Еще куча знакомых рож в других ролях.
Очень понравились интерьеры с мраморами, статуями, фресками, фонтанами и вот это вот все, и как сделан форум, хотя от фильма ощущение чего-то неуловимо старомодного.
