С женами все еще творится странное: мать детей, Элайза, таинственно исчезла во время пикника. И Изобел с Чарльзом только и делают, что ждут её, собирая по крупицам память о ней. Их отец, Гордон, пропадал 7 лет и вернулся с новой женой. Об Элайзе никто не хочет говорить и вспоминать.
Но это же Аткинсон. Она раскопает все-все тайны. Не только тайну исчезновения Элайзы, но даже тайну первой леди Фэрфакс. Правда, персонажи никогда этих тайн так и не узнают.
Все фирменные фишки автора в наличии: связь времен, которые просачиваются друг в друга, тайны прошлого, запутанные судьбы. В общем, хорошо, но шо ж от неё всегда такая тоска?
Спасибо за наводку на Аткинсон. За “Жизнь после жизни” никак не решусь взяться. Взялась за Джексона Броуди. Интересно, но так неторопливо действие развивается, прям мочи нет. Особенно, когда слушаешь, а не читаешь. И, начитавшись твоих рецензий, так и ждешь гадостей.
“Крокет” тоже в листе ожидания.
Я не дочитала Преступления прошлого, а в остальных, вроде, особых гадостей не было. Жизнь после жизни прямо вштырила!
