Век 19-й, главного героя, военного хирурга Патрика Самнера, выгнали за что-то из армии без выходного пособия и пенсии. Он нанимается на вшивый китобойный корабль, который плывет на север, в царство белого говна. Вскоре при осмотре юнги Патрик обнаруживает, что того кто-то изнасиловал. И, пока идет допрос и осмотр членов команды, юнгу находят мертвым.
Капец, до чего ж это мрачно и депрессивно, зато понравится тем, кто скучает по зимушке-зиме. Повествование напряженное, сериал несколько раз меняет жанры, начиная с детектива, переходя к триллеру, потом сериалу про выживание и наконец завершается снова триллером. Местами смотреть довольно противно. Главное хм украшение сериала – это персонаж Колина Фаррелла, настолько кошмарный, что его поначалу даже не узнаешь. Джек О’Коннелл тоже на уровне, но не так шокирует.
