Тру-крайм вообще такой жанр, который непонятно зачем смотреть: спойлеры в википедии и вообще как-то нудно по сравнению с тем, что сочиняют авторы детекивных романов. К тому же тяжело абстрагироваться не пропускать через себя то, что случилось с реальными людьми. Но очень познавтельно с точки зрения работы системы правосудия здорового человека: преступника надо не просто поймать, его нельзя привязать к батарее и выбить признание. Придется скрупулезно собирать улики, да так, чтобы защита не раздолбала обвинение в суде. И чтобы убедить присяжных.
В августе 1985 года на ферме Уайтхауз в Эссексе была убита целая семья: отец, мать, их взрослая дочь и ее шестилетние близнецы. Их застрелили. Шейла, мать детей, была разведена и известна нестабильной психикой. Все указывает на то, что Шейла всех убила и покончила с собой. Полиция закрывает дело, но одному из полицейских чешется и многие вещи не дают покоя.
Никакого смакования жестокости, практически ничего не показывают, кроме пары настоящих фото в конце. Очень аккуратно показано полицейское расследование и поведение оставшихся в живых родственников жертв. Актеры играют просто потрясающе, особенно Фредди Фокс, Джемма Уилан, Алекса Дэвис и Стивен Грэм.
